Education > Access to Recognizing Prior Learning (RPL) Program

Applicants accessing the RPL Program must meet the student admission requirements and are expected to demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and attitudes required in the CCA Program (Student Expectations). In addition to these requirements, the applicant must demonstrate that s/he is eligible to access the particular RPL method desired.

Documentation required for an applicant to access an RPL method:

Phase I (Prior Learning Assessment & Recognition (PLAR) - assessment phase): 

  • Completed Phase I Application and payment (RPL Phase I Application)
  • Student Admission Requirements (Student Admission Requirements)
  • Currency of skills (working in industry within last 5 years); this may be demonstrated by a resume, letter from employer or other means

Phase II (includes PLAR, Course Recognition and Equivalency):

  • Completed Phase II Application and payment (RPL Phase II Application)
  • Student Admission Requirements
  • Currency of skills (working in industry within last 5 years); this may be demonstrated by a resume, letter from employer or other means
  • Diploma/Certificate/Statement of Standing

Once an individual receives approval from the CCA Administration to access the RPL Program, s/he may access:

  1. The provincial route accesses an RPL Navigator through the CCA Program Advisory Committee (CCAPAC)
  2. The independent route (Independent Deliveries) accessed through an approved education provider or employer
